How Travel Currency Guide Makes Money

Travel Currency Guide is a free resource. We make money through affiliate partnerships, which means we earn a commission when you click certain links on our site and make a purchase or sign up for a service. This comes at no extra cost to you. The company pays us, not you.

Our Affiliate Partners

We currently have affiliate relationships with the following companies:

Wise (formerly TransferWise). We earn a commission when you sign up for a Wise account or order a Wise debit card through our links. We recommend Wise because it offers mid-market exchange rates with low, transparent fees. It is the card we personally use when traveling.

CEI Currency Exchange. We earn a commission when you order foreign currency through our CEI links. CEI delivers physical currency to your door at competitive exchange rates, which makes it a good option for travelers who want cash in hand before their trip.

Surfshark. We earn a commission when you sign up for Surfshark VPN through our links. We recommend Surfshark for its unlimited device policy, strong server coverage, and affordability on multi-year plans.

Trading.com. We earn a commission when you sign up for FX trading through our links on the currency lock page.

Holafly. We earn a commission when you purchase an eSIM through our Holafly links.

IdentityIQ. We earn a commission when you sign up for identity protection through our links.

TravelInsurance.com. We earn a commission when you purchase a travel insurance policy through our links.

How Affiliate Partnerships Affect Our Content

Our affiliate partnerships do not determine what we recommend. We recommend products and services based on our own research and travel experience. If a product isn't good, we won't recommend it regardless of whether an affiliate program exists.

That said, we want to be transparent: when multiple products are roughly equal in quality, the existence of an affiliate partnership may influence which one we feature more prominently. We believe this is an honest trade-off that lets us keep the site free while still providing accurate, useful guidance.

We will never recommend a product we wouldn't use ourselves, and we will never discourage you from a better option just because it doesn't pay us a commission.

Non-Affiliate Content

The majority of our content has no affiliate component. Our country money guides, city guides, ATM guides, tipping customs, exchange rate advice, and general travel money education are written to help you make better decisions. We don't get paid when you choose a local ATM over a tourist-trap exchange booth, or when you decline Dynamic Currency Conversion. We just think you should know how.
