Is There a Global ATM Alliance Partner Where You Are Going?

Every destination, checked against Bank of America's own partner locator rather than against the lists circulating on travel forums. Most of those lists are years out of date in at least three places.

The Nine Partners, and Exactly Where They Count

Membership is negotiated country by country rather than group-wide, which is the single reason most published lists are wrong. A member bank operating in a country does not mean the alliance applies there.

Partner bankCountries coveredCommonly assumed, and wrong
Barclays United Kingdom, Jersey, Guernsey Not Ireland. Not anywhere in Africa since 2018.
BNP Paribas France Not Fortis in Belgium, BGL in Luxembourg, BMCI in Morocco or BNP Paribas Polska.
Banca Nazionale del Lavoro Italy BNL only, not every Italian bank with a BNP connection.
Deutsche Bank Germany Not Deutsche Bank's branches in Spain, Italy, Poland or India.
UkrSibbank Ukraine Rarely listed anywhere, and genuinely a partner.
TEB Turkey Most travel advice says Turkey has no partner. It does.
Scotiabank Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Not Colombia. Not Costa Rica, where Scotiabank sold its retail business at the end of 2025.
Westpac Australia, New Zealand Not Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa or anywhere else in the Pacific.
China Construction Bank Mainland China Not Hong Kong.

What the Alliance Never Waives

Two fees come off, one stays on. A partner ATM removes Bank of America's flat charge for using another bank's machine and the operator's own access fee. Bank of America's 3% international transaction fee is assessed on the converted amount at every foreign machine, partner or not. Any page describing a partner withdrawal as fee-free has skipped the largest number in the calculation.

And the machine will still offer to convert for you. Partner ATMs run dynamic currency conversion exactly like every other machine, and accepting it costs several times what the alliance just saved. Always choose the local currency, then check our DCC explainer if you want the mechanics, or the two-minute quiz if you want to test whether you would spot it live.

An account with no conversion markup beats the partner map everywhere. Removing 3% in every country is worth more than removing a flat fee in nine of them, and it requires no research at the moment you are standing at a machine. Run your own numbers in the ATM fee calculator, or read the long version in the fees the alliance waives and the one it doesn't.

Skip the Partner Map Entirely

A Wise account converts at the mid-market rate with no markup, so the 3% that survives every partner withdrawal never appears in the first place. The card works at bank ATMs worldwide, partner or not, in the many countries this tool has just told you have no partner at all.
